Climate change now a real issue at local level, says Donegal councillor

A Donegal county councillor says the local authority’s annual drainage budget is not enough to deal with half of the flooding problems within the county.

Donegal Municipal District Fine Gael Councillor Barry Sweeney is calling for more funding and resources to deal with the increasing incidences of flooding to property and roads in the area, including during the past summer.

Cllr Sweeney says global warming is now a real problem on a local level and requires improvements to drainage infrastructure, including roads, culverts and bridges, to make them more resilient to climate change.
