Return of steam engine that pulled last train in Co. Donegal

‘I hear that train a-comin” could well be the catch-cry for Donegal Railway Heritage Centre during the coming weeks as it awaits a very special arrival on October 9th.

It’s the return of the steam engine, known as ‘Drumboe’, that pulled the last train to operate in County Donegal more than 60 years ago.

It follows an extensive restoration job in Whitehead, at Carrickfergus, in County Antrim.

Niall McCaughan, manager at Donegal Railway Heritage Centre, says the return of ‘Drumboe’ is a very special occasion.
