40 people being treated for Covid in NW hospitals



There are 40 patients with Covid-19 in the north west’s two main hospitals today.

Also, latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation also show 48 patients waiting for a bed in the region.

There are 26 patients with Covid-19 in Sligo University Hospital — that’s five more than when the hospital had the most patients with the virus in the country almost a month ago.

A further 14 people are in Letterkenny University Hospital with Covid-19.

One person is in the Intensive Care Unit in Sligo and none in Letterkenny hospital.

While no ICU beds are available in Sligo according to the latest HSE figures, there are two available in Letterkenny.

A total of 384 Covid patients are in hospitals nationwide today; the highest figure in nearly six months.

Figures from the INMO show 27 people waiting for a bed in Letterkenny University Hospital and 21 in Sligo University Hospital.

370 patients are waiting across the country today with Cork University Hospital having the most nationally at 53
