Warnock calls for recently trained doctors & nurses to remain in Ireland



A Leitrim Councillor is calling on the Minister for Health to immediately improve training conditions for trainee nurses and doctors.

 

Cllr Justin Warnock says that with almost 1 million people currently on waiting lists for hospital care, Ireland cannot afford to allow the drain of recently qualified and doctors to continue to other countries.

 

He is expected to seek support for the motion at next Monday’s meeting of Leitrim County Council from other Councillors on the local Authority.

 

The Fianna Fail Councillor is also calling for a commitment to be sought from newly qualified medical professionals that they will remain in Ireland for a period of 2-3 years once their training has been completed.

 

The Kinlough based Councillor better conditions and greater monetary rewards during training would help to keep newly qualified nurses and doctors in Ireland:
