Tougher laws required to tackle knife crime



A Sligo Leitrim TD is calling for tougher laws to be introduced to reduce the number of stabbings crimes committed in Ireland.

 

Deputy Martin Kenny made the calls after it emerged that  499 people were hospitalised after being stabbed with a knife between 2018 and 2020.

 

157 patients needed care last year – including 136 males and 21 females.
