Latest update on Sligo Covid-19 Vaccination Centre

The Vaccination Centre at IT Sligo will be open for ‘walk ins’ this weekend.

Anyone over the age of 16 who has yet to receive a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine can turn up with no appointment necessary.

A new addition for this round of vaccinations is anyone who is eligible to receive a second dose can also turn up, including those registered on the HSE vaccine portal.

Those who received a first dose before the 1st of August are eligible.

Vaccines will be administered from 12pm to 5pm on Saturday for a first or second dose while Sunday will operate from 9.15am to 12.30pm for a second dose of Moderna only.

A PPS number or proof address, Eircode, mobile number, email address and ID, including a birth certificate, is required to receive a vaccine.

The Chief Medical Officer says a rapid rise in incidence of the disease, means Covid-19 is circulating widely.

12,000 have been detected in the last week.

1,818 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed yesterday, with 237 patients in hospital last night, including 52 in ICU.
