Noamh Conaill beat Kilcar on penalties to retain Donegal title



Naomh Conaill retained the Donegal senior football championship title in dramatic fashion on Saturday night, when they won the delayed 2020 final against Kilcar on a penalty shoot-out.

The final, which took place 11 months after the team’s respective semi-final wins because of Covid, finished level at the end of extra-time (Naomh Conaill 2-7 Kilcar 0-13).

In the shoot-out, the McHugh brothers Ryan and Mark both missed their spot kicks – and it was left to Naomh Conaill team captain Ciaran Thompson to convert the decisve penalty for a 4-2 shoot-out victory.

Naomh Conaill retain the trophy in what is the club’s centenary year.

The 2021 senior championship in Donegal begins in a couple of weeks time.
