Progress at last on safety works for Cooethall & Croghan Junctions

It’s being claimed this morning that significant Progress is being made in relation to the commencement of upgrade works on the junctions for Cooethall and Croghan on the N4 between Boyle and Carrick-on-Shannon.

A number of accidents have been reported at theses junctions over the last number of years and local groups have been campaigning for safety measures.

Minister for State and Sligo Leitrim TD Frank Feighan says he has been informed that the Application for upgrade works has been approved by Transport Infrastructure Ireland and tenders have now been issued by Roscommon County Council.

The tenders are due to be returned in the next three weeks.

It is expected that a Contractor will be appointed by mid-August with work o to begin in late September.

Speaking to Ocean FM News Minister Feighan says it’s important that work on the junctions will commence as soon as possible.
