People asked to be mindful around the water this weekend

People heading to local beaches, lakes and rivers are asked to be mindful around the water.

Lifeguards will continue to operate at Rosses Point, Enniscrone, Dunmoran and Streedagh and the beach warden will also be available at Strandhill beach.

People are asked not to use inflatables as they are not designed for open water.

In light of the tragic drownings in the region recently, those heading to lakes and rivers are asked to be mindful of cold water shock.

Water Safety Development Officer with Sligo County Council, Pete Murtagh is asking people to mind themselves and their group and never to mix alcohol with swimming.
