Money to help flow of Unshin river at Riverstown

€22,635 to improve the flow of the Unshin River near Riverstown, Co. Sligo has been announced.

The funds will be used to clear tree, overgrowth and debris along both sides of the bank over 1 kilometre long on the Sligo side of the town.

The money comes from the Office of Public Works, with local Fine Gael Councillor Gerard Mullaney welcoming the news, saying it’s been badly needed for some time.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Cllr Mullaney says it should alleviate overflow problems along the road and the nearby community park.
