Calls have again been made in the Dail for a new Garda station to be provided in Sligo town.
The latest call came yesterday afternoon from Independent Deputy Marian Harkin who pleaded with the Taoiseach to intervene.
However, Mr Martin said the decision not to proceed with a planned new station, on a site purchased at Caltragh, was an operational decision taken by the Garda commissioner.
However, Deputy Harkin said she was raising the issue again because of its urgency.
