New Children’s respite service for Sligo/Leitrim area.

A new respite service is to be provided for children with disabilities in the Sligo/Leitrim area.

Following a review by the HSE, a building is to be sourced with the aim of the new respite house opening by early 2022.

Fine Gael Councillor, Thomas Walsh is welcoming the news as families have previously had to travel long distances over the years to avail of such services.

The expansion is part of a €5.5m fund to have nine new respite houses around the country.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Councillor Walsh says that having such a service in a more local setting is vitally important to families across the region.
