Slap in the face for nurses by failing to acknowledge their efforts during the pandemic



The Cathaoirleach of Sligo Drumcliffe Municipal District has accused politicians of ‘giving a slap in the face’ to nurses that work in Sligo University Hospital and Our Lady’s Community Hospital in Manorhamilton by refusing to recognise their efforts during the pandemic.

 

 

Unions representing healthcare workers say they are “deeply offended by the lack of action by the government on the request for an extra 10 days annual leave for workers in recognition of their efforts.

 

The request for such recognition has been lodged since last November.

 

Sligo Independent Councillor had called for nurse’s registration fees to be waved in acknowledgment of their efforts since the start of the pandemic:
