Local TD’s urge government to support not obstruct credit unions



A Donegal TD is accusing the government and Central banks of placing roadblocks in the way of Post Offices and Credit Unions that are looking to provide a financial service to many rural communities following the closure of several bank branches in the north west.

 

The matter was raised in the Dáil recently by Independent North West TD’s Marian Harkin and Thomas Pringle.

 

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Deputy Pringle says that instead of giving the Credit unions the resources they need to fill the void left in relation to providing financial services the government instead seem to be  intent on trying to hamper their development:
