Councillor reiterates calls for Easkey sewerage system upgrade

Sligo Councillor, Michael Clarke has reiterated his calls for an upgrade to the Easkey sewerage system.

The Independent Councillor is also requesting the system be extended to include 27 houses in the Fortland area.

He first raised the issue in a motion with Sligo County Council in July 2010 seeking an extension of 1.1km with an estimated cost, at the time, of €280,000.

Councillor Clarke says raw sewage is ejected into the river and the area has been without an adequate sewerage system for over 20 years.
