Ballyshannon publican begs government to allow indoor service

As speculation continues to intensify in relation to the further lifting of restrictions, a local Publican has begged the Government not to move the goalposts when it comes to allowing customers back into pubs and restaurants.

Publicans across the Counties of Sligo, Donegal, and Leitrim are also preparing for indoor trading to resume on Monday week.

This latest speculation will be a devastating blow to them as they prepare to emerge from a long period of lockdown in many cases.

Maurice Mac Laughlin runs Sean Og’s bar in Ballyshannon. He is preparing to resume trading on July 7th.

Speaking to OceanFM, he says if the date is changed again it will be a bridge too far for many that are struggling in the industry to come back from.

Meanwhile, the Tanaiste Leo Varadkar says he can’t provide clarity on whether July’s reopening is going ahead because of the Delta variant.
