Mica repairs in North West will exceed 1 billion Euro

The Taoiseach, Micheál Martin has told the Dail that the bill from houses impacted by Mica in the North West will exceed one billion euro.

In the Dáil yesterday evening a Sinn Féin motion calling for 100% redress for homeowners affected by mica was adopted by the Dáil.

The Government parties did not oppose the motion.

Two amendments were adopted, including one from Aontú leader Peadar Tóibín calling for a public inquiry into the controversy.

The Taoiseach Michael Martin has questioned the role played by a number of parties in the scandal.

He specifically mentioned the designers and suppliers of the defective building blocks, as well as insurance companies.
