Harkin, speaking at Mica protest and in Dail, says Sligo must be included in Mica redress scheme

A Sligo/Leitrim TD says Sligo has to be included in any Mica redress scheme.

Independent Deputy Marian Harkin says the main focus of the current Mica campaign seems to be on Donegal, Mayo and Clare.

But she says as time goes by, it’s emerging more homes in County Sligo
are affected.

And she fears houses in other counties may also have been built using blocks with the mineral Mica.

She spoke to Ocean FM News just after she gave a speech at today’s protest in Dublin.

Also speaking at the protest, Donegal TD and Sinn Fein finance spokesman Pearse Doherty says the government must act.

He said affected homeowners will accept nothing less than 100% redress.

These demonstrators at today’s protest in Dublin say the government must step in.

Following today’s protest in Dublin, Deputy Harkin raised the issued in the Dail this afternoon with the Taoiseach, Micheal Martin.
