There are calls for the Pandemic Unemployment Payment not to be included when assessing full time students applying for SUSI grants.
Concerns have been raised that some students may have been pushed over the qualifying threshold due to them receiving the PUP.
Sligo/Leitrim Labour representative, Nessa Cosgrove says students weren’t able to work part time jobs due to the pandemic and they are going to be at a major disadvantage when it comes to their SUSI grant assessment.
Speaking to OceanFM News, she says the SUSI grant is very important for people accessing third level education and Minister Harris needs to address concerns.
