Lifeguards will be in place this weekend at Enniscrone and Rosses Point beaches.
They will be there fulltime from the beginning of July and also at weekends at Dunmoran and Streedagh beaches.
Sligo County Council is encouraging people to be safe around the water this weekend and for the summer months.
Water Safety Development Officer with the local authority, Pete Murtagh is advising people not to use inflatable toys in lakes and the sea.
Speaking to OceanFM news, he says they are designed for enclosed spaces like swimming pools and can be dangerous if used in open water.
