‘Simplicity and clarity’ needed over guidelines

A local TD says ‘simplicity and clarity’ is needed in relation to the easing of restrictions.

Sligo/Leitrim Independent TD, Marian Harkin raised concerns with Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, in the Dail yesterday.

She said, for example, there are conflicting distancing rules for indoor dining that will cause confusion.

One metre distancing will be allowed for indoor dining if the table is prebooked and safety guidelines are followed, however, people will only be allowed stay for a maximum of one hour and 45 minutes if one metre is maintained.

While there will be no limit on how long customers can remain eating and drinking indoors if tables are at least two metres apart.

Deputy Harkin says the laws are ‘unenforceable’.
