Doherty lashes out at government parties over investment funds’ involvement in housing market



A Donegal TD says investment and vulture funds will buying up large swathes of new housing estates, causing those hoping to rent or buy a home of their own to be pushed out of the market.

It comes after an investment fund bought up an estate in Kildare en masse.

Speaking in the Dail, Deputy Pearse Doherty says the investment companies are not taking advantage of any loophole but are using a system that has been set up and supported by the mainstream political parties over many years.

 

Meanwhile, the taoiseach says investment funds buying up completed housing estates is “unacceptable”.
