Partners of pregnant women and new mothers can now attend appointments at Sligo University Hospital.
They are now permitted to be present as support during labour and for a time after birth.
The ban was implemented in September of last year.
People will be allowed a one hour visit per day, they will be screened for Covid-19 prior to their visit and will be required to wear a mask for the duration.
Independent Sligo Councillor, Marie Casserly says it’s been a worrying time for expectant parents and it’s welcome news.
