Legislation on anti social behaviour needs to change

This week’s meeting of the joint policing committee in Leitrim heard calls for changes in the legislation when it comes to dealing with those found guilty of anti- social behaviour in housing estates and apartment complex’s

The issue was raised by Manorhamilton MD Councillor. Felim Gurn.

Cllr Gurn says that during the pandemic anti-social behaviour in such areas is a constant draw on garda resources .

Three ASBO’s (Anti Social behaviour Orders) have to be issued to those responsible before they can be prosecuted in Court.

Cllr. Gurn says the legislation has to be changed to provide gardai with more powers.
