Councillor calls for a return to underage sport



Inter-county training may return in the second half of April, if the Government signal the easing of certain public health restrictions later today.

 

Recreational golf, tennis and the permission of children to engage in non-contact training outdoors could also be on the agenda for the second half of April.

 

Ahead of today’s announcement a former underage GAA coach in Sligo and modern day Sligo/Drumcliff Councillor Thomas Healy  is calling for young people to be allowed to return to outdoor activities including sports training.

 

He says the isolation for children has had enormous implications for their mental and physical health and this needs to be recognised and dealt with:
