McDermott urges local hospitality sector to embrace staycations

The readiness of the local tourism and hospitality sector to cater for the influx of people taking staycations in the north west has been raised by a local councillor.

With Covid-19 restrictions likely to reduce the number of those considering holidaying abroad this year, large numbers are expected to engage in staycations with the counties of Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal expected to benefit.

Leitrim Fine Gael Councillor Sean McDermott has expressed fears that many workers have left the hospitality sector and have changed careers, Cllr McDermott wants the local region to be in a position to hit the ground running and make the most of the 2021 tourism season.
