Local construction sector in danger of loosing skilled workers



A Sligo Councillor has expressed concerns over a possible shortage of construction workers in Ireland due to the prolonged period of Covid-19 restrictions.

 

Fianna Fáil Councillor Paul Taylor also works in the construction industry.  He was reacting to recent findings from the Construction Federation that claimed that skilled workers from Ireland were being offered lucrative contracts in the UK.

 

It’s understood that Irish workers are a target for British construction firms in the aftermath of Brexit.

 

 

Cllr. Taylor says that Ireland will need all its construction workers to be ready to return to the sector once the restrictions ease.
