Figures released last month by the HSE which claim that there are no children in Sligo/ Leitrim on the waiting list for Speech and Language Therapy services have been questioned by a former general election candidate.
Nessa Cosgrove, has taken issue with the claims for the HSE wich says that despite 44,563 children waiting on services there are none registered in the Sligo Leitrim area.
The Local Area Representative for the Labour Party has called for the release of up to date figures adding that parents, teachers and providers of Early Years Services claim that the local figure was unrealistic in the context of long waiting times being experienced by some families locally.
She added that some of the Health Areas did not submit figures due to staff being redeployed to Covid-19 related duties.
