Local disappointment over decision to close Fermanagh School

The news that a High School in Fermanagh where students from Donegal and Leitrim also attended is to close has been greeted with disappointment.

The Minister for education in Northern Ireland – Peter Weir has decided not to approve St Mary’s High School Brollagh to an integrated school which has effectively sealed the fate of the facility.

The school with an enrolment of 65 students has survived previous attempt to shut it down, but this time round the future looks bleak.

Sinn Féin MLA Jemma Dolan is a former pupil of the school.  She has criticised the move adding that Children and parents should be afforded to opportunity, to be educated locally instead of being put on crowded buses to be shipped to large towns.
