Leaving Cert solution must be found immediately



A north west school teacher and member of the ASTI has urged the teachers union and Department of Education to reach an agreement today on how to proceed with the running of this year’s leaving cert exams

 

The ASTI yesterday claiimed a proposal to rely heavily on calculated grades for this year’s leaving cert was “not viable”.

 

 

A fresh round of talks will take place today between the ASTI and Department of Education aimed at resolving the row.

Secondary students say it’s unrealistic for the ASTI to demand the Leaving Cert go ahead as normal this year.

 

Independent Sligo Councillor Marie Cassrley is also a secondary school teacher a member of the ASTI and the parent of a leaving cert student she says that it’s a complex situation to resolve:
