Gardaí send file to Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to ‘Golfgate’ controversy



A Sligo Leitrim TD has called on the the Director of Public Prosecutions to send out the right message when it comes to dealing with those that attended the Oireachtas Golf Society event in Cliden back in August.

It’s emerged that Gardaí have sent a file to the DPP in relation to the investigation surrounding the Oireachtas Golf Society dinner.

81 people, including politicians, members of the judiciary and lobbyists attended the event which broke Covid-19 restrictions.

Golfgate resulted in the resignation of Phil Hogan as EU Trade Commissioner and former Agriculture Minister Dara Calleary.
