A Labour Party member in Sligo is calling for the registration fees for nurses and midwives to be waived for this year.
Former general and local election candidate Nessa Cosgrove says the government is quick to offer applause and kind words for frontline workers.
But she says waiving fees would be a practical acknowledgement of the work done by these professionals during the pandemic.
