Named and shamed – When families were forced to pay funeral offerings



Listeners have been recalling the practice of Catholic families being asked to pay funeral offerings by the Church, and of the very public system of revealing who gave what. Pauric Feeney claims the practice was ended in Sligo when one family objected, while Donegal altar boy, Vincent, and collector, Tess, have their own memories of hardship for families
