Leitrim man completes 12 marathons in 12 days

A leitrim man has run 12 marathons in 12 days around the county to raise money for the North West Stop.

Liam Cox, from Leitrim village, completed his final marathon on New Year’s Eve in Carrick-on-Shannon, running on his own in two-kilometre loop because of the new Covid restrictions.

He spoke to Ocean FM’s Austin O’Callaghan after completing his ’12 marathons of Christmas’:

Liam began the trek on December 20th running from Manorhamilton to Leitrim village on day one. He completed final marathon in Battlebridge on Thursday, running it in a impressive time of 3 hours and 44 minutes.

He’s raised more than €30,000 to date for the suicide prevention group.
