Tributes paid to former Donegal GAA ‘Chief’

The death has been announced of former Donegal GAA county chairman Mícheál Mac Giolla Easbuic (Micheál Gillespie), following a lengthy illness.

He was known as ‘The Chief’ and was a hugely respected GAA administrator and school teacher in Kilcar.

He was county board Chairman from 1980 to 86 and was also a GAA Trustee at Croke Park.

Here’s a great piece of old Donegal GAA Convention footage from 1986 in Ballyshannon (courtesy of Packie Keaney) when Micheál stood down as county board Chairman.
