Homeless crisis like to continue in the North West

A local representative of the Labour Party has urged people not to forget about the plight of the homeless in the lead up to Christmas.

Former election candidate Nessa Cosgrave says there are currently 45 adults and 5 children in homeless accommodation in Sligo and that there are also people looking to access services in Donegal and Leitrim.

The former general candidate in the Sligo/Leitrim  says rising rent prices are contributing to the crisis.   She says it’s a very difficult time for all those that find themselves in such a situation.

With increased houses prices, and a vibrant rental market currently in play it’s expected the number of people becoming homeless will increase in the near future.

Nessa Cosgrave says the fact that rents are risng while wages remain static is also a factor in people becoming homeless.
