Some Donegal hotels not reopening this Friday

A number of Donegal hotels have decided not to reopen despite the lifting of Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions.

They include the Abbey Hotel and Central Hotel and Leisure Club, both in Donegal Town, and the Nesbittt Arms Hotel in Ardara, all part of the Donegal Hotel Collection.

The hotel directors point out that the continued closures are temporary until Level 3 restrictions are lifted in 2021.

They say the decision was made to protect their teams over the festive period and to protect the local community.

They added the decision was in keeping with placing the health and safety of staff and guests above all other considerations, and they hope to be back soon and stronger in 2021.

The hotels will be contacting all guests with upcoming bookings to reschedule.

Elaine McInaw, sales and marketing manager for the Donegal Hotel Collection, says the decision to remain closed despite the lifting of Level 5 restrictions was difficult.

She told Ocean FM News that restrictions on inter-county travel was a major factor in their considerations.
