North West Green Party welcome formation of new Forestry Strategy



A North West Green Party representative says the likes of Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal have suffered the worst due to no clear plan for the nations forests and woodlands.

National Coordinator of the Green Party and former General Election Candidate, Dr. Bláithín Gallagher is welcoming the formation of a new Forestry Strategy for the country

The industrial scale planting of non native species such as Sitka Spruce has been criticised by local community groups such as ‘Save Leitrim’ for a number of years.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Bláithín Gallagher says they have been planted with ‘little or no regard’ to communities.
