There were mixed fortunes for the north west counties in Saturday’s Nicky Rackard Cup semi-finals.
Donegal booked their place in the decider with a 3-25 to 1-21 win against Tyrone at O’Donnell Park in Letterkenny.
Their opponents in the decider will be Mayo who eventually overpowered Leitrim in Castlebar on a final scoreline of 3-23 to 1-11.
Manager Mickey McCann spoke to Ocean FM Sport’s Conor Breslin after the win:
Leitrim, playing in their first ever semi-final in this competition, matched Mayo score for score in the opening half at McHale Park and produced some fine hurling as the teams went in level at 1-8 each at the interval.
Olcan Conway’s side had eight wides in that opening half, which proved costly as Mayo moved up a gear in the second-half and ran out winners by 18 points in the end.
