Legal costs could be coming down

Guidelines restricting the amount of fees lawyers can seek for work on legal actions have been recommended by a civil justice review group.

The report found that the high cost associated with going to court was a barrier to justice, a burden on tax payers where the State is involved in litigation and hampers national competitiveness.

If the proposal is implemented it will drive down the cost of going to court in most instances.

Sligo Leitrim TD and Sinn Fein Spokesperson on Justice, Martin Kenny TD says there have been concern about legal fees in this Country for some time.
