Donegal TD believes universal sick pay would help stop Covid-19 spread

A local TD believes introducing universal sick pay would do more to help stop the spread of Covid-19 than giving Gardaí more powers.

There is no mandatory sick pay under Irish law meaning that for most people when they miss a day of work due to an illness, they lose out on a days pay.

Independent Donegal Deputy, Thomas Pringle, says many of the nations workers ‘cannot afford’ to get sick, especially during the ongoing pandemic.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Deputy Pringle, says introducing sick pay would discourage people coming into work if they are ill.
