The Irish National Teachers’ Organisation have welcomed the commitment to reduce school classes by an average of one pupil next year.
In advance of yesterday’s budget more than 20,000 emails were sent by concerned teachers, parents and members of the public expressing their concern and frustration that Ireland hosts the largest class sizes in Europe.
The INTO had expressed concerns that the situation was made all the more serious with the outbreak of Covid-19.
Aine McGinley is the Sligo/Leitrim Representative on the central executive of the INTO she says any moves to reduce class sizes have to be welcomed.
