Sligo council cathaoirleach pays tribute to departing chief executive

The cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council has paid tribute to council chief executive Ciaran Hayes who announced yesterday that he will be leaving his position at the end of this year.

Cllr Dara Mulvey said the news of Mr Hayes’s departure had come as a shock to all.

It follows the announcement last month that council Director of Services Bartley Gavin is to leave his position.

In July, the Chief Executive of Donegal County Council, Seamus Neely, announced he was stepping down from his role.

Speaking today, Cllr Mulvey said people had only to look around County Sligo to see Mr Hayes’s contribution during the past seven years.
