Local Labour representative blasts Governments plan to defer sick pay bill

The government’s proposal to defer a bill that would give all workers statutory sick pay for six weeks has been described as a disgrace by a local representative of the Labour party.

A Bill from Labour aims to see people have entitlement to sick pay if they have or are suspected of having COVID.

The government says it wants to take time to consider the impact on businesses and workers.

However, former Sligo/Leitrim general election candidate Nessa Cosgrove says what the government is doing is kicking the proposal down the road for six months.
