13 new Covid cases in Donegal

Thirteen new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in County Donegal.

That’s according to a statement from the National Public Health Emergency Team yesterday (Sunday) evening.

There have now been 560 cases in Donegal. The figures for Sligo and Leitrim are 159 and 106 respectively.

The statement added that as of midnight on Saturday, there have been 255 new confirmed cases of the virus, bringing the country’s total to 30,985.

NPHET said one more person has died from the virus, bringing the total Covid-19 related deaths in the country to 1,784.

Of the new cases announced yesterday evening, 68% were under 45 years of age.

The Cabinet sub-committee on Covid-19 will meet later to finalise the government’s new ‘Living with Covid’ plan.

The new strategy is due to be published tomorrow, and will set out five levels of restrictions for the next six to nine months.

It’s understood Dublin could face higher levels of restriction under the plan, due to the levels of the virus in the capital.

Covid-19 Lead at the Irish College of General Practitioners, Dr. Nuala O’Connor, says the new measures could be with us for a very long time:
