A Sligo councillor is calling for the council to investigate the establishment of community home settings in rural areas.
The idea involves a number of people living independently but close to each other, with carers available for those who may need assistance.
Fianna Fail Councillor Martin Baker from Riverstown says such a set-up might suit people for whom entering a care home would not be suitable but who would benefit from being in a community where help is available if they need it.
Cllr Baker has been telling Ocean FM News what he has in mind.
