The go-ahead has been announced for long-awaited improvements and resurfacing works on what is one of the busiest stretches of roadway in the north west.
The works will take place on a 3.5km section of the N15 Sligo/Donegal road from near Henry’s Restaurant at Cashelgarron to Aughagad, south of Grange village.
Fianna Fail Councillor Donal Gilroy says news of the go-ahead for the works has come today from Transport Infrastructure Ireland.
Sligo Fine Gael Councillor Tom Fox has maintained a special interest in this stretch of roadway.
Thirty-eight years ago, in 1982, it was the scene of a horrific traffic accident that claimed the lives of a number of people, including his father, who was also a councillor at the time.
Cllr. Fox today paid tribute to all those involved in securing the go-ahead for the work that will now be done.
