Rovers up to third after 3-1 win against Finn Harps

Sligo Rovers moved up to third in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division table on Monday thanks to a 3-1 win against nine-man Finn Harps at the Showgrounds.

Goals from Ryan De Vries in the first half, and the two Ronans (Murray and Coughlan) guided Liam Buckley’s side to another impressive win.

Harps provided a stern test for the home side with Mark Russell giving them a deserved equaliser on 58 minutes.

But their work was undone somewhat by two second-half dismissals for Mark Coyle and Kosovar Sadiki in separate incidents.

Their manager Ollie Horgan was also sent to the stands.

Rovers regained the lead thanks to an excellent finish by substitute Ronan Murray.

– and then a Ronan Coughlan converted a penalty to make the three points safe for the home side.

Rovers move onto 15 points, which takes them up to third in the Premier Division table behind leaders Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians.

Harps remain bottom of the table.
