Bundoran travel agent says government help needed to keep jobs

A former president of the Irish Travel Agents Association has called on the government to provide urgent funding to the industry to help retain the 3000 jobs in the various travel agencies across the country.

Cormac Meehan, from Meehan’s Travel Agency in Bundoran, says that with the numbers of those travelling overseas for holidays this year having reduced significantly, there has been a major decline in business.

Speaking on the North West Today Show, Mr Meehan says it’s vital that travel agencies remain open so as to facilitate consumers in securing refunds for cancelled holidays.
