Active Travel, Climate Change funding for Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal



Four million euro has been allocated for Active Travel and Climate Change Adaption measures in Sligo and Leitrim.

The funding is being made available under the government’s July Jobs Stimulus Plan and is part of the overall €115 million package for sustainable transport and the renewal of transport infrastructure.

Junior Minister Frank Feighan says communities in the Sligo/Leitrim constituency will benefit from improved and more accessible walking and cycling infrastructure as well as stimulating local employment.

Also, a total of €1.8m is being made available in Sligo and Leitrim for climate change adaptation measures.

Minister Feighan says these grants will help Sligo and Leitrim county councils to deal with the essential repairs needed in the aftermath of recent severe weather.

About €3m has been allocated to County Donegal.

South Donegal Fianna Fail Councillor Micheal Naughton says €700,000 is coming to the Donegal Municipal District.
